WHO WE ARE....
We began as a dedicated group of local animal lovers who use our varied talents to create handmade items to sell to build an emergency medical fund for shelter dogs.
The dogs in our local shelters received only the basics in veterinary care. Frequently, a dog was sick or injured and the needs of the dog or cat exceeded the ability of the shelter vets. We relied on social media to bring awareness to the plight of these animals and ask for help in funding off-site medical visits and procedures. It added up and could sometimes be tough getting the money needed. This group was formed to help create a way to spread awareness of the needs of the animals here in Maricopa County and open people's eyes to a need that may exist in their own backyard and raise money to offset the need to constantly ask for money as individual volunteers. While a couple of volunteers brainstormed this idea, it couldn't have come to fruition without a village of dedicated volunteers, networkers, artists and animal lovers. Through our first 5 years we tended to the medical and behavioral needs of more than 150 Maricopa County Shelter Animals. We dealt with distemper, cancer, allergies, mange, canine papilloma, TVT, Valley Fever, broken scapulas, masses on spleens, and occasional behavior issues that just required some training. We had no limits as to what we would take on. As 2020 seemed to change everything and vetting had improved at the shelters and other organizations have formed, we have broadened our approach to helping local rescues in need and helping out community members who are struggling to provide medical care that has exceeded their financial limits.
